Uncle Sam is a representation of the United States.
He is dipicted as a serious thin old man with white hair and a goatee,
resembling President Andrew Jackson, in whose term he first appeared in
1812. Earlier symbols of the US include Brother Johnathan (a
Quaker gentleman dressed in black) and Columbia (a female dressed
in stars and stripes). Legend has it that the original and
real life Uncle Sam was Sam Wilson of Troy, New York, a meat packer who
provided viands for American troops during the War of 1812. His goods
arrived stamped 'US' , which the soldiers interpreted as 'Uncle Sam'.
The familar picture depicting Uncle Sam pointing at the viewer and declaring
'I Want You for the US Army' appeared in 1916, but with the caption 'What
Are You Doing for Preparedness?' and was created by James Flagg. #H257 Coat, trousers, vest, shirt, tie, hat and beard (shoes not included) Available in Mens sizes X-Small (30-32 Small (34-36) Medium (38-40) Large (42-44) X-Large (46-48) XX-Large (50-52) Avialable as shown in Cotton/Polyester fabric
