Thing One and Thing
Two are twin brothers from the Dr. Seuss
book The Cat in The Hat. In the book, they
appear to help The Cat show Conrad and his sister Sally how
to have a good time. They are disastrously mischievous
- they fly kites in the house and make a frightful mess and
are a couple of Dr. Seuss' most well known characters. Dr. Seuss, the nom de plume of writer Theodor Seuss Geisel, was a prolific writer of some of the most well-known and popular childrens' stories in history. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he attended Dartmouth College. He began his career as an illustrator for the college humor magazine, he later did illustrations for Vanity Fair and Life and for ads for Standard Oil Company (the famous 'Quick, Henry, the FLIT!' was his creation). After Dartmouth, he attended Lincoln College, Oxford in England to study for a PhD is English literature, which he abandoned to pursue writing and illustrating back in the US. His first book, published in 1937, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was a success and began his literary career as Dr. Seuss.. Pausing only to work in the US Army film production unit during WWII, he resumed his writing to produce some of the best loved works of children's literature, including Horton Hears a Who, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Green Eggs and Ham. His works have spawned a collections of films and cartoons and the endearing memories of millions of people.
