He robbed from the rich and gave to the poor and went
skipping merrily through Sherwood Forest ... at least according to Bugs
Bunny version. This legendary good guy has been portrayed on stage
and in films by the likes of Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Kevin Costner,
and John Cleese and his story has been told repeatedly with many variations,
both serious and comical.
Robin Hood is regarded as a mythical figure, though several times in history individuals are described as being Robin Hood-like (as early as 1377). The legend of the man who protected the poor against the wickedly powerful seems to have originated with medieval minstrels as a rather mercenary individual. His character was refined into the self-sacrificing character we recognize during the 16th and 17th centuries, when he attained noble status (as the the Earl of Huntingdon, Robert of Locksley) and acquired a sweetheart, Maid Marion (or Mathilda as she was originally known) as well. This character seems to have been fond of beheading his enemies, as most met their ends in this manner. #H163 Sleeved vest, shirt, pants and hat (Boots not included) Available in Mens sizes Small (34-36) Medium (38-40) Large (42-44) X-Large (46-48) Available as shown in Tan/Green or in Green (Vest, Shirt and pants
