WWII is gearing up with troops engaging in

Britain will fight alone if necessary. "We may show mercy. We shall ask
none." In the US, Americans are distracted by the film
industry. Gone With The Wind cleaned up the Oscar field
winning awards for Best Picture, Best Actress (Vivien Leigh), Best
Supporting Actress (Hattie McDaniel), Best Screenplay, etc, etc
etc. Abbott and Costello made their film debut, as did Bugs
Bunny, Elmer Fudd and Daisy Duck. Robin was presented as Batman's
sidekick.
