A new house in the US averages $12,000, a gallon of gas is 25 cents and the minimum wage is $1.00  per hour.  A record number of young adults enter college in the US and bring new perspectives with them.

Dresses and skirts were the most popular form of raiment worn by women, and the only one allowed for students in many schools.  The ruffles and lace of the fifties was gone and was replaced by simplicity.  Straight lines and shorter skirts were the style.

Dress is 2 toned, splitting just under the bustline.  Bodice is sleeveless, skirt A-lined.  Zipper closure. This dress is constructed of a period pattern converted to modern sizing.
