'In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure
dome decree' - we have all heard the Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem, but what
about the real Kubla Khan? Considered the founder of the Mongol dynasty
in China, he was the grandson of Ghengis Khan. Following the death
of his older brother, Kubla completed the conquest of northern China by
ousting the Kin Tatars. By 1280 he ruled over a vast empire that
extended westward across Asia as far as Russia and included Korea and Burma
and encouraged letters, commerce and industry to the region. He was
brought to life for the Europeans by the accounts of Marco Polo. #H228 Below knee tunic with short sleeves. Contrasting undertunic with long sleeves, baggy pants & hat.
