Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr. a professor of archaeology and history is known in his alter ego as Indiana Jones, adventurer. A throwback to the swashbuckling adventures of the 1930s and 40s, George Lucas created the character performed by Harrison Ford and introduced him in Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. Subsequent films include Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1984) and most recently Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls (2008). The films have been great successes, and have made Indiana Jones an American icon.
