The hanbok is a traditional Korean costume and can trace
its origins to as far back as the Three Kingdoms Period (57 B.C. - 668
A.D.). The women's hanbok consists of a short blouse (chogori or
jeogori) and a long wrap skirt (chima). In earlier days, white hanboks
were worn by the working class with the bright colors of the upper classes
being worn only for special occasions. Elaborate headresses, jewelry
and footgear completed the ensemble.
