The "King of the Wild Frontier"
was a
facinating product
of early America. Born in 1786 in eastern Tennessee,
he
drove cattle between Virginia and Tennessee
(at the age of
12), farmed, hunted bear, acted as a scout
for Andrew Jackson's army in the War of 1812, and
was known for his outrageous
stories. He was a US
congressman, then, disgusted with politics, in 1835 headed
for Texas
with
a group of Tennessee volunteers to fight in the Texas
War of
Independence.
On March 6, 1836 he, along with Jim Bowie and 181
others, died
defending
the Alamo. #C135 Fringed tunic and pants and faux fur hat. Available in Boys sizes X-Small (2-4) Small (6-8) Medium (10-12) Large (14-16) Cotton/Polyester fabric $80.00
