The Cavliers were Royalist supporters of Charles
I during the English Civil War (1642-1651) opposing Cromwells Roundheads.
Leader of the Cavalier forces was Prince Rupert, Duke of Bavaria and
Duke of Cumberland, nephew of Charles I. Rupert led an adventurous and
checkered career. From a very young age, he was a solider, first against
Spain, then as commander of the Cavaliers. When he was defeated at
the Battle of Naseby and banished from England, he prompted became a buccaneer
in the Caribbean. When he returned to England, he took up the position
of the first Governor of the Hudson Bay Company. He died at the age
of 62, a true survivor. #H229 Below knee tunic with flared cuffs with contrasting undersleeves, squared neckline inset & button trim.
