Black Canary
Tough on crime and vicious to evildoers, the Black
Canary is a character created by Robert Kanigher and
Carmine Infantino for DC Comics. She first
appeared in 1947 in Flash Comics as the alter ego of Dinah
Drake, a crime fighting heroine as a supporting character who
infiltrated criminal organizations to nab the villians.
Canary orginally had fishnet stockings and a leather jacket to
establish her toughness. She later evolved into a karate
chopping super heroine with a banshee-like scream that could
explode objects and render her enemies senseless (convenient,
eh?). Still later, Black Canary became a
mother-daughter team.
