During the United States Civil War,
southern ladies saw their wardrobes dwindle to nothing as cotton
petticoats were
torn in shreds to make bandages and silks were picked to pieces for
sashes
for their soldiers. This dress is a recreation of one that may
have
been used as a wedding gown - the fabric salvaged from draperies (like
Scarlet O'Hara in Gone With the Wind) or bed hangings. #V136 One piece gown with trimmed flounced sleeves and v-shaped lace inset on the bodice front and back. Skirt is full with insets of coordinating roses. Dress closure is zippered with an overlay with hooks and eyes (the modern zipper is hidden and the appearance is period). The dress is meant to be worn with Victorian Hoop #U1212 or #U1221 and Victorian Petticoat #U1209 Available in Misses sizes 8-24 Available in Powder Blue, Pink, Wine, or Yellow Cotton/Polyester fabric $250.00 |
