Mugwort
Artemisia vulgaris - Perennial - Medicinal Mugwort
Also known as: Felon's Herb, St. Johns Plant, Cingulum Sancti Johannis
Leaves are smooth and pinnately lobed, lance-shaped rising on tall
stems. The yellow or pink flowers are small. The name 'mugwort' is said
to have come from its use as a flavoring for beer, and at one time it was
used extensively to repel moths. During the Middle Ages, mugwort was thought
to preserve traveling pilgrims from fatigue, wild beasts and sunstroke.
Dried leaves can be used to brew a substitute for tea. The Japanese use
the cottony coating of the leaves to prevent rheumatism. Full sun; plant
height: 2-4 ft. 80 days
