Dioscorea batatas (or Dioscorea oppositae) Perennial; Medicinal, Culinary (Also known as Cinnamon vine, Cinnamon Yam, Shan Yao)

Used to flavor foods and to treat loss of appetite, kidney and lung problem. Climbing vine with tubers forming above the ground. (Tubers form the second year). The plant prefers a well-drained soil in full sun and does best when allowed to climb on a fence or trellis. It is hardy to -10F (-23.3C) and grows to a height of 8ft.
