Alfalfa
Medicago sativa - Culinary, Medicinal; A perennial plant used
most frequently as fodder for animals. Leaves and young shoots are
cooked and eaten as greens, or fresh sprouts are eaten in salads.
A tea is made from the leaves that is used to stimulate appetite.
A poultice made from boiled leaves is used to treat earache. High
in Vitamin K. (Recent studies suggest that persons with lupus should not
ingest alfalfa in any quantity.)
